Exploring Lies and Betrayals in Life and on the Page

Although betrayal is regarded as one of the most feared and devastating experiences, nearly everyone has experienced betrayal, and betrayal, lies, deceit, and duplicity are central to some of our finest literary works.  In this workshop we explore personal, cultural, political, familial, medical, environmental, and other forms of lies and betrayals and their role in losing, recovering, or defining integrity and the soul.  Using excerpts from literature, film, and visual arts this guided interactive workshop will help participants to explore their own creative and/or personal journeys with crimes of the heart.

The workshop includes a drawing and writing component and is designed for writers and others who want to better understand the role that lies and betrayals shape our experience and how the complexity of these experiences can be transformed through writing about them.
